Beam vs. Sniper

Post by nocbl2 on Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:00 am

Which is better? I find Beam great on long range maps, like Avalanche, and the Sniper good for maps like Guardian. I'll be comparing uses here:

Noise: Beam wins this. Very quiet.
Trace: Depends how dark the map is. On snowy maps, Sniper. Darker, grittier maps can work with Beam. Equal.
Power: Beam is just slightly stronger.
Accuracy: Equal
Speed: Close, but I still have to say Beam, in most cases. Though Sniper can be faster, sometimes. 1/4 sniper, 3/4 Beam.

I think beam is better.

You can't say one is more powerful, they are equal. They both also have the same speed, basically instantaneous.

the beam rifle can pull off two consecutive shots alot quicker than the sniper rifle. but the beam rifle has a weird reticule and can overheat

If its 1v1, Beam rifle all the way, two quick shots is all you need. However, Sniper is great for 4v4, since all your ever gonna need is 4 shots (if your pro). Beam rifle is perfect for not reloading.. xD

And HOW DARE YOU COPY MY THREAD FROM BNET FORUMS </3

I pick the Sniper over Beam everytime. The only exeption would be Team Snipers, when i need the beam to be able to double tap Y out of scope.

Beam Rifle = Win. I just think the reticle is better on it (easier for headshots) and the two quick shots works really well.

Beam Rifle - Close Combat Far Combat Fast Shooter but doesn't last long
Sniper Rifle - Far Combat Last Long But Shoots Slow

Although the Beam can pull off 2 quick shots, but the overheating is really annoying. Also the fact that you don't have to reload is a plus too.

Sniper, on the other hand, is great overall. It can't shoot as fast as the Beam Rifle (consecutively), but there's no overheating, so it has a greater shooting rate overall.
